CAREER

Kim Fanlo (Barcelona, January 5, 1979) is a musician, producer, arranger, and composer. From a very young age, influenced by his older brothers, he began listening to bands such as Kiss, The Police, and Metallica, who sparked his interest in music.

At the age of 8, he began teaching himself to play the guitar, and a year later he began studying music theory and classical guitar.

At 17, he produced his first demos and began to devote himself professionally to music as a studio and live guitarist/bassist, collaborating with artists and producers such as Bunbury and Howie B.

In 2003, after joining the band as bassist on the tour for the second edition of Operación Triunfo, he began to shape, together with Mai Meneses, what would later become the duo Nena Daconte.

In September 2005, they self-released their first album, He perdido los zapatos, produced by Kim himself, on their own label, Daconte Music.

A month later, Universal Music Spain signed the duo to release that same album in March 2006.

The duo received their first gold record (more than 70,000 copies sold) a few months after its release. They also received numerous awards, including the 2006 Ondas Award for Best New Artist, two Music Awards (Best New Artist and Best New Songwriter), the 40 Principales Award for Best New Artist 2006, and the Cadena 100 “Los números 1” Award for Best New Artist 2007, among others.

His second single, “En qué estrella estará,” was chosen as the theme song for the 2006 Vuelta a España cycling race and spent five weeks at number one on the country's main radio stations, such as Los 40 Principales and Cadena 100.

This album will take them on a two-year tour of more than 150 concerts throughout Spain, with two dates in Berlin and Paris.

With their second album, Retales de Carnaval (also produced by Kim), released in September 2008, they continue to reap success: platinum record (more than 80,000 copies sold), their first single, “Tenía tanto que darte,” won two Music Awards (best song and best video clip, directed by Marc Lozano/Nanouk Films), spent two weeks at number one on the “Del 40 al 1” chart on Los 40 Principales, and became the best-selling song of 2008 on iTunes Spain.

After touring for over a year and playing more than 90 concerts (giving their last concert in Buenos Aires), the duo decided to split up.

Since then, Kim has focused on creating Wicked Sound, his own recording studio in the Poblenou district of Barcelona, and continues to produce groups and artists such as Georgina, for whom he produced several songs on the albums Rara (Warner Music Spain, 2012) and Dilema (Warner Music Spain, 2015), and Pablo López, with whom he achieved two gold records for his albums Once Historias Y Un Piano (Universal Music Spain, 2013) and El Mundo Y Los Amantes Inocentes (Universal Music Spain, 2015). This Malaga-born artist has also received numerous awards as best new artist from the country's leading radio stations and was nominated for best new artist at the 15th Latin Grammys in 2014.

At the 17th Latin Grammy Awards, El Mundo Y Los Amantes Inocentes received two new nominations: one for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album and another for Kim Fanlo as Producer of the Year.

As musical director and guitarist for the “Tour El Mundo” with more than 100 concerts, he has taken them all over the country and to cities such as Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, New York, and Las Vegas, opening the ceremony together with Juanes at the 17th Latin Grammy Awards.

<<Camino, Fuego y Libertad>> (Universal Music Spain, 2017), the third album produced by Kim for Pablo López, goes double platinum with sales of over 80,000 copies, received a new nomination at the 19th Latin Grammys for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album, as well as the 40 Principales Award for best song of the year for “El Patio,” which also rose to the top, reaching number 1 on the same radio station's “Del 40 al 1” chart.

Also as musical director and guitarist, on the “Tour Santa Libertad” where almost all of his concerts were sold out, filling venues such as the Wizink Center in Madrid and the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
